005: Blossoms in the silence

It seems as though the world likes to remind me that even I'm not immune to making mistakes. The last few days have been troubling, and I feel lost now that I'm apart from the Lifestream. It feels like there's nowhere I can turn to without making things worse, but despair never solved anything for the better

[coughs a few times]

Zack, I'll be fine. Kadaj hasn't tried to attack me, I don't see why everyone's fussing about my being around him.

[Looks horrified at the cough]

When did you start getting sick?

Because he's a psycho who tried to kill my best friend?

[turns away from her slightly]

I'm not sick, don't worry about it.

[cetraflowergirl]

[Sighs] There's a lot more to it than that, and it doesn't help when all of you keep trying to pick fights with each other.

[Folds her arms, totally not believing you.]

Then you wouldn't be coughing and I wouldn't have a reason to. Have you done anything for it?

He's the only one picking fights.

Reno shoved some nasty medicine down my throat.

[Though it doesn't seem to be working D:]

Cloud's guilty of that as well, he just doesn't realize it.

Hmm, maybe not enough. You do have to take it more than once for it to take effect, you know.

[Is plotting on getting that bottle from Reno as soon as possible]

If it doesn't work, that usually means you should see a doctor.

[Pouts, but doesn't say anything]

It was just some cough medcine.

[shrugs and raises his arm to cover his mouth as he coughs again]

[Siiiighs.] Oh, Zack, what am I going to do with you?

[Pulls him into a hug from behind, petting his hair and maybe pressing a hand to his forehead to check his temperature.] Tell me you'll see a doctor if it gets worse?

You could keep me with you forever.

[nestles into her and closes his eyes, her hand feels soothing against his warm forehead]

I promise.

Yes, I'll just have to add you to my collection of lost puppies. [Is teasing, but pets his hair in an attempt at comfort]

[turns around and rests his head on her shoulder]

I was the first puppy, remember?

[coughs]

Then you ran off and got lost, and I ended up having a whole litter tumble into my lap while you were out.

[Rubs his back, her other hand holding the back of his head.]

But you're right, you'll always be my first puppy.

[Turns her head just enough for his bangs to tickle her cheek then frowns.] I do hope that's not contagious. [Teasing, mostly.]

Mmm.

[closes his eyes as she rubs his back feeling soothed until she says the word 'contagious' and pulls away]

I didn't think of that...sorry.

See? That's why you should see a doctor. [Taps his nose.]

Don't run yourself too ragged Zack. [Takes his face in her hands and presses a kiss to his forehead.] It makes me unhappy to see you sick.

I'm not that sick, don't worry.

[smiles at her briefly before turning away to cough harshly]

Mm-hmm. You keep saying that, but I don't like the way that's sounding. I'm going to hold you to your promises. [Rubs his back in a wide, circular motion]
