Lyn-Z/Gerard. One-shot. Lyn-Z doesn't know what the pidgin-ish kid in her art class's game is, but she's not impressed. This seems to be based on Lyn-Z's own descriptions of her anti-social, angry, overweight art chick high school persona, rather than on Lyn-Z as she is now. It's adorable and dysfunctional and hilarious, oh my god. (NC-17)

Taylor was little more than an incredibly irritating but sadly unavoidable part of Demi's friendship with Joe, until Joe broke up with her, and ... now Demi's not sure what's changed. Just a really fun, sweet high school story, with multiple POVs and a lot of making fun of Joe. A little lacking in ... character motivation or resolution or something, but charming. I like this Demi. (PG)
The Shattered Sapphire in the Fireplace by summerstorm
Selena/David. Novelette. A Bones AU. FBI agent David Henrie's been pining for his forensic anthropologist partner for kind of a lot of years, but she's only recently realised that they're friends, and he's not pushing his luck. The casefic plot is unmemorable, but this is funny and darling, and some of the casting is hilariously awesome. Which I say as somebody who only knows a smattering of fanon about any of these people, and doesn't know David Henrie from a bar of soap. Seriously, though, this is great. (PG)
The Week We Almost Lived Dangerously by summerstorm
Demi/Selena. One-shot. High school AU. Demi’s beginning to think that if she doesn’t tell Selena soon, the chance of people other than Demi getting hurt by it will get too high. This is so darling. Demi's POV is great, and her feelings ring true. The friendship/banter scenes between Demi-and-Selena and Demi-and-Joe are also appealing. (PG)

It turns out that my obsessive love for AUs applies only to RPF fandoms. Due South AUs - the kind of AU that transplants the characters into an entirely different setting, I mean - freak me out as much as Harry Potter ones did. Here are some canon or possible-canon fics instead ♥

Multiple pairings. One-shot. Four possible endings. One of them gets a little over-silly, but this whole thing is like a shot of joy. I don't even know which pairing is my favourite, but Francesca is a highlight. (PG)

Gen-ish Thatcher/Fraser. Short one-shot. Meg is finding her personnel report distressingly difficult to write. Honestly, I saved this one mostly for the wolf joke. It's a fun little thing with a charming Meg voice, though. (G)

Thatcher/Francesca. Short ficlet. Frannie finds herself tugged into an alley in a strange city. This ficlet has giggly fun with the Meg Thatcher part of the epilogue (while cheerfully ignoring the Francesca part). There’s no context or justification for the pairing dynamic, but, mm, I enjoy both of them here a lot. (PG-13)
