I might be doing this for a while, just as a heads up ♥

Calvin and Hobbes

Theories About Nuclear Winter by hollycomb
Calvin/Susie. One-shot. When Calvin's sixteen, he decides he's going to run away and become a shrimp farmer. Oh, this is lovely. This is such a darling, convincing Calvin, dangerous drop-out on the outside and hopeless romantic on the inside. (PG-13)

This Kid I Once Knew by Minnow
Susie Derkins gen. Ficlet. Susan's at college when somebody sends her C. Hobbes' webcomic link. This is just the most charming little bit of Susie future fic. (G)

Destination Everywhere by LithiumDoll
Gen. Short ficlet. Calvin is leaving. Gen with some Calvin/Susie. This is here mostly for the last line, which I had to sit and quietly beam at for a moment. (G)

Upholding the Laws of Time by AstroGirl
Doctor Who crossover. Drabble. The Doctor and Donna meet Calvin. This is all kinds of great. (G)

Disney Animation

All Your Heart-Melodies by thingswithwings
Lilo & Stich gen. Ficlet. Lilo wanted to be an intergalactic space hero first. Oh damn, I love this. The progression, the way you can't even tell at first whether it's supposed to be sad or not. And the ending. (G)

Skill Set by David Hines
Tiana/Naveen. Ficlet. The Disney princesses help out around Tiana's restaurant, and Naveen extends his skill set. The other princesses descending actually felt a little too indulgently meta without quite doing anything with it, to me, but oh, Tiana and Naveen. Naveen's voice here is marvellous <3 (PG-13)

Harry Potter

Matching-Muff Matrimony by eloiselovelace
Ginny/Pansy. Novella. In which Ginny is a hero (ish) and sick of it, and Pansy has a problem with her inheritance, and both problems may be solved by a marriage of inconvenience. This is silly and convincingly done and just fun. The premise and the character interactions are very like a Harry/Draco fic (in fact I feel as though I must have read a whole bunch of Harry/Draco fics just like this) but Ginny and Pansy are unmistakable as themselves, and their dynamic is great. (NC-17)

Good Deeds and Sucker Punches by slinkiestumble
Millicent/Percy. Novelette. Millicent is never helping anybody else again. This Millicent is marvellous, I have awe. Best knight in shining armour ever. (PG-13)

Air Heart by magnetic-pole
Minerva McGonagall/Rolanda Hooch. One-shot. Minerva didn't have much sense of the Muggle war going on, and she didn't understand what Headmaster Dippet meant when he collared her on the platform at King's Cross and put her in charge of two Squib girls, telling her that Hogwarts was helping with the war effort. This is excellent. A one-shot that feels longer, with a perfect narrative style exactly fitting its time, and the best Minerva voice, unassuming first person in the best way. I loved Rolanda and her sturdy outlook, I loved the aviatrix theme, I loved the way the author wrote Minerva's friendship with Walburga and Lucretia Black, I loved the way the pureblood movement interplayed with the war going on in the world outside. And I loved the way the romance was written, that exceptionally light touch, but so unafraid and unmistakable. This is simply the best Harry Potter femmeslash story I've read. (PG-13)

A Toast to Lord Voldemort by magnetic-pole
Neville, Augusta Longbottom/Minerva McGonagall. One-shot. Neville is summoned to witness, of all things, his grandmother’s marriage documents. This is really lovely. In-character and unsentimental, light-hearted with depth. I really enjoyed Neville’s relationship with his grandmother and hers with Minerva. And some of the lines were excellent - there were a few subtleties I feel as though I need to turn over in my mind to exactly get. (PG)

Being Liquid by rotaryphones
Teddy/Victoire. One-shot. In which Victoire is a lesbian and Teddy is still working himself out. This is a really sweet story in which Teddy becomes bi-gendered, which the Metamorphmagus ability makes into a kind of magical wish fulfillment of a story for anybody who's wanted to do the same thing without magic. It's a little too overviewy, with not quite enough direct story, and I wasn't sure about the decision to maintain Teddy's masculine pronoun the whole way through (although I realise changing pronouns is a literary device only), but overall I was definitely charmed. (R)

Probability by eloiselovelace
Pansy/Ginny, Percy/Oliver. Short ficlet. Percy calculates the odds. Ridiculous fun little maths geek fic. (PG-13)

20 Facts About Lucius Malfoy by nopejr
Narcissa/Lucius. Ficlet. Lucius and Narcissa, from first rivalries to triumphs and defeats. A dark but beautiful and weirdly warming scrap of story. I especially love the last line. (PG-13)

Joss-verse

Never the Twain Shall Meet by liz-estrada
Cordelia/Faith. Long one-shot. A Slayer-verse AU in which Cordelia and Faith meet in a high school in Boston. I'm finding it really hard to write this rec, because there are a couple of things that feel as though they need disclaimers - there's a lot of mid-scene POV-jumping, the language is a little adjective-heavy, Cordelia is weirdly un-bitchy for her high school persona - but the style is really compelling, and the POV-jumping is a deliberate stylistic decision - one that I found I was actually sold on, at least half the time. The characters and their dynamic are also really great. I loved this Faith in particular: she was an incredibly attractive character, and I *really* believed in Cordy falling for her. The AU is an interesting set-up, too, and not as straightforward as it looks. (R)

Things To Do at Poolside When You're Dead by minim-calibre
Cordelia/Anya. Ficlet. Fun little fic in which Cordelia and Anya meet up by the pool in the afterlife. This is such a perfect Heaven for Cordelia to be in, and Anya's voice is spot-on. (PG)

Heads/Tails by doyle-sb4
Fred/Tara. Ficlet. Fred and fractured perceptions of worlds. A powerful little ficlet with a far, far better ending for Fred. Even the pairing makes sense in the end. (PG)

Ring-A-Ring O'Roses by prillalar
Darla/Drusilla. Ficlet. Darla and Drusilla out at night on the streets, set during Angel S2. Holy shit. Drusilla's POV here is amazing, fey and dark and fondly possessive, with that lilt of fairy tale insanity. Not a nice story, but perfect for them. (NC-17)

And That's Terrible by beer-good-foamy
Tara/Willow. Drabble. An adorable early morning Willow-and-Tara moment. This is tiny, and I'm not even sure why it appeals to me so much, but it makes me smile. (G)

Her Beauty and Her Terror by ijemanja
Addams Family crossover. Wednesday/Harmony. Ficlet. Harmony's lost her soul since the last time Wednesday saw her; Wednesday approves. Oh god damn, this is *awesome*. I love everything about their relationship, they are the best ever. (PG-13)

The Great Bikini Incident (The Key to Time Remix) by doyle-sb4
Doctor Who crossover. Ficlet. In which Dawn encounters the Ninth Doctor, Rose and especially Jack. There’s not much to this, but it has a really fun last line. (G)
