Elation & Dissapointment
I am so proud to see that we, as a country, were able to elect Barack Obama as our 44th president. As the numbers came in and it became evident that there was no way for McCain to recover, I was elated.
That elation has faded to disappointment. Disappointment in California. Disappointment in the people who so clearly believe that their religion should have a part in our government. Disappointment that there are people who are so small-minded to believe that the ability and legality of gay people being able to marry somehow devalues their heterosexual marriages.
I am hopeful that those of us in California will be able to undo this travesty, but until then, this election is bittersweet.
