I haven't read that (and I probably won't because it's full-on angst), but she is a wonderful writer who really brings the military side of Atlantis to life. I adore her Lorne and Co stories. You totally have to read "Custer's Last Stand," "Praxis" and "Never Go In Against a Sicilian When Death Is On the Line" or... okay, I'm going to stop, because I'm a total Domenika Marzione fan girl. (She's miss_porcupine on lj, if you want to be up to date on all of her writing.) But, yeah, she's *amazing.*
Irony_Rocks is leaving fandom simply because she feels it's time to move on. It's kind of like how I've left HP behind and am in the process of moving on from Numb3rs. I'll always love them, but I won't be writing them so much anymore. *shrugs* It happens.
I'll go work on that list for you, but it might take a while. (I will have the comfort of knowing that you'll be much distracted by Domenika Marzione's stories while I compile that list.)
I'm not really watching it, per se. My parents are, and because it's usually around the time I actually start packing to head back to the dorms, I pack and then I sit down to wait until the show is over. (I feel guilty enough about going back so late that I'm not going to tear my father away mid-show. Now that's mean.) Besides, it provides us with something to talk about that won't cause me to go all defensive and angry on them. Sometimes, having me for a daughter is...difficult.
But yeah, Richard and Kahlan are like totally OTP. Who wouldn't like a pretty woman who is also a kickass warrior?
This is one of the best military-esque story I've read. I didn't know there were a series of Lorne stories. Squeee! I look forward to the list. =)
I've drifted away from a few fandoms myself over the past ten years to know how it feels like to drift away. Heck, I've been seeing the warning signs about myself and Numb3rs for months now. I stick around for you guys and the promise I made to myself that I was going to finish my monster fic. Yes it happens and there are always new fandoms which take their place.
You're telling me you watched the last half of Revenant in the same room as your parents? That takes guts. I've never seen a more OTP than Richard and Kahlan.
Domenika really loves Lorne, so if you're reading it on her website, there is a master list of everything she's written.
I think SGA is kind of my new fandom, but it's not exactly a fandom I've delved into.
Er...Revenant is the one where Richard and Kahlan almost "get busy," except it wasn't them and not exactly? For that episode, I wasn't in the room with my parents really. I was standing in the hallway behind the living room and watching. My parents probably knew I was there, but they didn't say anything about it. In my family, if my parents are watching something, then I have the choice of watching as well.
Have you read the book series that the show is based on?
Yes, Revenant is the one where "Richard" and "Kahlan" get extremely busy.
I've read most of the book. I got to about the eighth one or so and got annoyed at Richards. I do own all the books and they are waiting for me on the bookshelf. Have you read them?
Um, actually, I haven't read them, and at the rate I'm going through my other recreational books (aka, no progress whatsoever) chances are that I probably won't in the near future. Everything I do know is what I've pieced together from the TV show and wiki.
Magi and I are going to need to sit you down and have you watch all the episodes in their entirety. They are all on hulu with limited commercial interruption. We shall give you no excuse. =)
