Please Help with Getting Scruffy Ready to be Re-homed!

Scruffy is the innocent dog in a divorce that is currently going on. The man keeping her is filled with debt from his soon to be ex-wife, attorney fees, the task/cost of raising two toddlers, the cost of daycare, and the fact that he's working enough hours to kill a person. Scruffy just is not getting the attention she deserves. She's SUCH an incredibly sweet dog too. He does NOT want her to go to a shelter where she would be put down. She shows aggression when another dog approaches her food- that's automatic euthanasia at most "humane" agencies. She's not aggressive, she just needs to be fed separately. She's fully house-broken too.

He absolutely cannot afford to keep Scruffy. The soon to be ex had insisted that he keep the dog until she could find a new place to live- because her parents would not allow her to have the dog. She offered to buy food for the dog, and cover her expenses. In the past year, she bought a bag of dog food that was so small it could have been mistaken for a trial size. Jim and I have been buying the dog food, and providing blankets and warmth for the dog during the cold months. I've been feeding her every day that I can (we have feeding towers over there for days when I am not there)- and playing with her when I can. But I can't be there every day.

She has shaggy matted hair, and needs to be groomed desperately. With shaky hands and no clippers, there is no way that I can do it. She needs a vet/heart worm check and shots. Because the soon to be ex has NOT given me any money, as promised, for her care- it looks like Jim and I will be asking the vet to hold checks for her vet testing, shots, and heart worm pills. She does still have some Advantage, so that's one less expense. We've yet to figure out how we'll pay to have her groomed. It can cost between $35-$50 depending on how hard it is to remove the mats, etc..

I know that I can find her a home if I can get her taken care of and up to date on shots. Possibly even by the end of the weekend. The person interested can afford her upkeep from here on out- but not the grooming involved to remove all of the mats, the initial heartworm testing, etc..

If anyone can find it in their heart to donate a few dollars to help this poor dog, please use the paypal button. She deserves the very best in life- and I need your help to provide that.

We're struggling to get by. The economy has tanked, Jim can't find a new job, I'm on disability, we're on food stamps- and we constantly have hungry cats showing up at our door. One of the cats desperately needs medical attention- but that's information for another post.

I would be forever grateful for anything anyone can do to help this dog- so that we can get her re-homed. When she was originally adopted by the soon to be ex, she had to have hip surgery because she was beaten so badly with a broom that there were broom fragments in her bones. So, she's seen seriously tough enough times already. If I could keep her- I would in a heartbeat- but there's just no way.

Again, if you can help- thank you. As always, I appreciate all help.
