I just watched The Descent. O_o I'm not going to go into too many details, but I'll put my complaints under a cut anyway.
The movie started out fine, I thought. Everything seemed plausible. A bunch of thrill-seeking women going on a cave exploration in the Appalachian Mountains. The women get trapped in the cave and have to find another way out. I guess the woman who'd supposedly researched the cave didn't. The cave had never been mapped out, and she never bothered to tell any of the others, so now they're trapped in a cave whose network they know nothing about.
I think the movie would've been just fine had they decided not to add the creatures half-way into the film. The creatures were unoriginal (think Gollum crossed with an Orc...and there you go!), and their sound was definitely ripped off from Jurassic Park and a National Geographic special (when the creatures were feeding, Val and I distinctly heard hyenas...in fact, I think they ripped it off from that episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer...the one where Xander gets posessed by an evil hyena spirit).
The ending was ridiculous and left you thinking, "huh?" It's definitely 2 hours I'll never get back! It's too bad I couldn't return it today. Oh, well. Anyway, that was my lame review of The Descent. ^_^
