I was reading this article on the differences in how Americans and Japanese read facial expressions. It's really, really interesting how even emoticons are different between the two cultures. We tend to focus on people's mouths when reading their faces, and the Japanese tend to focus on people's eyes, and emoticons reflect that, too. Take a look!
