At last! BT came through and we now have lovely jubbly Internet... It's been so long, I can barely remember what you do online. Waffle, largely.
So, how's things with you? Me? Oh, usual. People seem to be a little more pissy this year but morehinest about being pissy, so it's okay. It's easier when people just admit that they're pissed, you know? The new ouse is quite nice, in a tiny Edwardian way, and the adopted cat Geoffrey gave us a dead mouse today which means that he loves us. Which is nice.
I've seen some good films, including the new Bond (me likey) and An Inconvenient Truth, the Al Gore environmental film which has had Alex and me switching out lights everywhere crying "The polar bears! The bears will drown!". I bought a fascinating book called
The Anthropology of Food and Body: Gender, Meaning and Power which is fascinating. A little too feminist for my taste - whilst I believe that Western society is patriarchal, I don't think it necessarily follows that women are therefore entirely powerless - but interesting. It's literally only in this last year that I've finally realised that if I were really concerned about my weight or whatever I could do something about it, and since I don't want to do anything in particular with it, then I must be happy with it.
It's a logic that works for me. ;)
What else... having to think about the future, which is scary stuff. I'm on the border between a 2:1 and first so I need to buckle down this year and work harder... The plan for next year, for now, is to move back to Brighton, get some work experience in a museum and a job in order to save for a possible Masters course... I'm sure that plan will change in the next few months though.
Oh, and some of my Peru photos are
here. I used up my monthly allowance already, so it'll be a little while before I can get them all up. :P
