Well, it seems the hurricane has hit pensacola and alabama... I ask again why you live in such an area that hurricanes are this frequent? :S Well, I guess it hasn't been that bad ( ... )

Huricanes are not as bad as the media always makes them out to be. Don't be fooled. The biggest problem that a hurricane poses for most people is a lack of electricity. Don't get me wrong, some people will end up with a busted up house, but that is not the majority.

:) Well I guess that makes sense. The more drama, the more viewers! Here I am up north watching it because it's so intriguing. I was saying to my mom actually how I wished I was there and how exciting it would be.. altho I don't imagine it is very exciting.

Even so, the insurance must be really high. :S

I feel so sheltered on the little island of montreal. The worst we've ever had here was an ice storm. And while that was actually insanely bad... well it wasn't like many many peple died or anything. But it did do a lot of property damage and no electricity.

But really... I'm actually rather sad as we don't even get severe thunderstorms where I live. :( It's like, everywhere around Montreal gets the bad weather. Like... an hour away they get tornados, but they'd never come here. Nor hurricanes or typhoons or eathquakes.

The worst weather we could get is like, 30 centimeters of snow. -_- Which is hardly devestating, just a pain in the ass.

I guess I sound glum about not having horrible disasters here, but I guess we're pretty damn lucky. I just want a good thunderstorm! :O

Ice Storm 98 was much more devastating than say, hurricane Ivan.
More deaths, more damage, more inconveniance.... Even looking at the Pensacola area and everywhere that got hit worse than Mobile... yeah, the Ice Storm was worse.

I remember a few severe thunderstorms in Montreal though... there would be a couple every summer and the power would go out for a few hours...

Actually you're right. The ice storm was pretty bad. It took a long long time to recover from it all. And it was still all ice for weeks after the worst was over.

Well, we've had some thunderstorms... but for the past few years... there really hasn't been many. I remember hearing thunder a lot more often when I was younger. So far this summer, it's thundered maybe, 3 times and twice they were really lame and the 3rd time... well, we hade one HUGE HUGE crack and then it was over.
-_-

I wish montreal was more exciting...

Anyway, I hear in Japan they get Typhoons! lol!

Yeah, rillip is right. The media Really exaggerates. Also, Ivan was th first really nasty one in a Long time. It'r really just weird that there's another really big one so soon. Like, very weird.
The losing elctricity is just a pain... I imagine even more so in July... but hey. we had the Ice Storm. ^^

Now to answer your questions...
I could definitely see myself living here. If it wasn't for the whole MUST BE A PALEONTOLOGIST thing, this would have me convinced to learn Japanese 100% and move to Ueda or somewhere where I could and try to get a job as an English teacher. That would indeed be wonderful ( ... )
