another cat post

We brought Oprah back to the vet for what we expect and hope to be the last visit for a long time. The pink suture is gone. It was getting ratty anyway. She looks much better in her natural tones. Black is beautiful.

One thing I do love about going to the vet, and that vet hospital in particular, is the other animals that we see there. Today: a one-eyed orange cat who appeared to be blind in its remaining eye, and a beautiful big dog named Libby who is getting knee surgery. She was sweet and only a little nervous as she and her owners waited, but when the tech came to take her away she tucked all her limbs under her body and refused to move. Her mom started crying as they said goodbye and I wanted to give her a big hug and assure her Libby was in good hands. I didn't, but she'll find out soon enough.

The neurologist came out to see us for a few minutes. He's not the type to show much emotion, but he seemed very pleased with Oprah's progress. He was also a bit apologetic about the setback she had, saying he jinxed himself by telling us before the surgery that he had never had to do a blood transfusion. Dude, you totally turned her life around. No worries about the blood transfusion! Besides, he didn't charge us for a ton of stuff he did, including coming in on his days off to check on her. I'm so getting him a gift certificate at a nice restaurant. Any suggestions? I had to rule out French Laundry and Chez Panisse because I don't want it to be a hassle for him to get a reservation.
