Clarke generally makes a point to not get drunk to soothe himself when he's angry. He usually feels worse if he numbs himself only to have to confront feelings later. After leaving Jen's house he wants to break that rule. He can't handle being in a bar though. He can't handle going home with a six pack either, he already feels nauseated. Being drunk isn't really what he wants anyway. He doesn't want to forget how she looked or what was said. She said she'd think about it. That was a step in the right direction. She hadn't transferred him to Samoa yet either. He'd take these small victories. They were all he had right now.

His resolve had weakened momentarily towards the end of his confrontation with Jen but now it was strong again. The problem was he didn't know where to go from here. Did he wait until she contacted him again? How much time had to pass without him hearing from her before he could conclude he was being met with silence? In general, how much time did he need to wait before contacting her again? She said she would be think about it and he believed her. That meant she needed some time to actually think about it. He didn't want to rush her. He could be patient. He just didn't want to seem like he disappeared either. No decision was safe.

He wished there was someone to ask about it. Sure, anyone could give their opinion but opening up to a stranger or to a friend who wasn't involved that like a violation to Jen and besides, this wasn't the same as any random guy wanting his girlfriend back. The more he thought about it, the less appealing talking to anyone about anything was at this very moment. He didn't want to go home and sulk either, that would just make him feel worse. Instead, he twitched trains and headed for headquarters. No one was likely to be there right now so he'd get some work done. If he needed to pass out at his desk no one would be there to see either. He'd be distracted by productivity. That was the only answer to any question he had right now.
