In the department of the obvious, Government Spending is not out of control.
While we're still leaking funds because of the number of Americans who are under the poverty level, spending itself has been shrinking.
Public employment continues to shrink. Population growth does not.
And federal revenue hasn't been this low since 1950.
Spending isn't out of control - tax cuts are.
We need to
use real numbers and bring our tax rates back to 1990s levels. We need to stand up to the tax-cut jihad that make it easier to put loopholes into the tax code than to remove them. We need to make sure that it's one person one vote - not thousands of dollars per vote. We need to band together against liars and push the parties to be better in primaries. We need to not let perfect be the enemy of good.
I don't know why I'm thinking politically today; but I don't think even my libertarian friends can deny these statements.
