In the garden
Peas and Beans. Not many pods of peas, just a few, but there are baby beans and some picked beans that should make a few meals. Would have been nice if the cat hadn't dug up the seeds, but what can you do? No cherry tomatoes yet, but flowers (wait, I did see little green tomatoes today). I have yellow and black bugs on my pumpkins and squash, and I think aphids or something eating other things. It's time for the DDT. Or a soap spray. I know Gizmo said that was bad, but it beats the nicotine spray. I think.

The beetles are eating my day lillies. I squish them by hand which is very effective. There are quite a few ladybugs around, not the red ones, but orange ones. I wonder if these are the more agressive asian kind, which do bite (I read that somewhere Grafix1da, you were not drunk).
I have seen less than 20 honey bees all summer, and I look. Yesterday I saw 3, 2 in a large patch of clover that I had to mow (sorry bees) and one on a flower. I saw one today on some milk weed flowers. I recall that when we used to have funerals, you had to be careful when moving the flower baskets because they were loaded with bees. Not anymore. I don't usually see any now. There was something in the paper about a request for money to study the bee disappearances. I will be interested to hear how the berry crops do around here this year.
Mild bird flu is found in the US, in turkeys I believe. There goes Thanksgiving.
Just read about the conservative Republican senator who's phone number was found in the DC Madam's phone book. How is that for poetic justice? Please tell my why all the really big hypocrites seem, at least when it comes to personal morals, to be Republicans? I mean, if you are going to rag on gay marriage as the downfall of traditional family values, shouldn't your marriage be above a trip to the brothel? Or shouldn't you keep your mouth shut?
Oh, we recommend Ratatouille. Forgot to mention that. Funny movie. The best, best scene is the food critic's reaction to the meal. Best scene I have seen in a long time.
My 'new' computer has been acting strange lately. So glad I updated. Ugg.
Rythter was able to get the scanner and computer talking again so I scanned my watercolor as a new icon. I don't quite like it, but whatever. I need a summery icon.
