Yeah, its that time of year again. We dropped the lad off at college today. This was much easier than last year. A: He's in a dorm that's palacial compared to last year, with only one roomate and AC. B: The roomate is his friend. C: He has a great support network of freinds who know him and he actually also knows. From the time we parked the car to drop the gear, he was seeing people he knew. And who's NAMES he knew. This is so totally unlike him. All his life he has had no ability or interest in learning people's names, unless they were his friends. Teachers.. who knows who they are... everywhere we would go, people would know HIS name, but when we asked who they were, he had no idea. But today, he was saying hi, hugging people... Just totally old home week. Even the kid that helped bring his crap up to the room was like "Is that *?, was he on the frizbee team last year?" He was, for a short while...
We met his roomate's parents but we were quickly give the impression that he was fully capable of unpacking his stuff and that we should make ourselves scarce. Which is funny because last year he was pretty much unwilling to make his own bed. So we took the hint and said our quick tearless goodbyes and went home. Now to try to get back to the empty nest routine.Changing eating habbits is first on the list.. as Pizza has become far to much of a mainstay in our house since May.
