I have a new stove.

Finally the stars aligned and the stove was delivered, and fit in just fine. Me with my bricks and extra wood and shims were completely unneeded. UG. Whatever, it's in. Now to burn off all that new stove smell. The flat top is going to be hard to get used to. Since the stove is my second counter, I have to be careful not to put things on the still hot 'coils'. There is a nice pretty red light that tells me the counter is stil hot.. thats good. But the 'danger zones' seem less defined then the old stove and it's coils. The oven does have a light in it.. that's neat. And the storage under the stove, so going to love that. I am sad to say goodbye to stovetop use of my beutiful cast iron pan. I don't use it all the time, but it works great for making steaks. Start them in the stovetop and then finish in the oven. If I'm super careful, I could still do it.. but not sure how well they would work. I read that the heat doesnt transfer well in the instructions, so I probably should just get rid of it. Besides, the older I get, the heavier things get. :(

This winter sucks. Spring is barely here. The snow slowly melts at the pace of a retreating glacier. We struggle to get out of the 40's.. the sun refuses to shine... it's aweful. I now have 3 bodies in the tomb, on waiting on ice at the funeral home, and one more going in because of a Thursday funeral I just won't be able to do. I once again took apart the snow blower, seeing that this shit just will not melt, and will have to be moved, and found the cause of my sorrow. When I re-assembled it the last time, I forgot a spacer. That led to the gears flopping about, and wearing the parts that were inside the gear case. When I took the oil out, which was supposed to be red, it was brown with gold flecks. Bronze impregnated oil. Not good. It ate the gear, and it ate the other spacer. And other bad stuff.

So at the end of the day, I was lucky enough to get the parts back in 3 days ( I expected weeks to be honest) and with my brother's help getting the pin out, and putting the new one in, we hopefully will be back in buisness tomorrow moving snow. My only fear is that the inside of the case was warn from the movement of the shaft without its propper spacer, and now one of those spacers  is just barly being held where it needs to be. If it shifts, I don't know if it will tear things apart again, or if it will just spin. I will just have to take a chance, and if it doesn't work out.. oh well.... It's very frustrating.
