I went to my neighbor's today to find out how they were doing after the mayhem of the marathon. It's the first time I've seen her out since the incident. Her husband runs the race most years. I had seen that he came in (I had thought after the bombs had gone off) and I saw him on the phone on his porch a few hours after the SHTF. As it turns out, she told me he was having a bad race, and was slow coming in, and when she met him near the end of the race, she gave him a pep talk and energy drink and he was able to pick up his pace again. Doing so may have saved his life. He was about 100 yards over the finish line when the bomb went off. If he had continued his slow pace, he would have probably just been coming in when it went off. Very close call. And as it is he's had health issues lately.... Not sure if this won't be his last race. :/
