The Gas Guy

So the place where I get gas for the cemetery vehicles has a new employee. He's an older guy, retired I assume, and I just don't like him. The first time I met him he was nice enough to wash my windshield, and I was like "wow, no one does that anymore!" Then he started going on and on about politics and such, way overboard. He's also somewhat scatterbrained. Today I checked when I went by and didn't see him so I thought I was okay. I took the truck and the cans to get gas, and when I got there, there he was. He immediately started pumping the wrong grade gas into the truck ( I use the 91 obtain or the truck pings like a bastard). I got him to stop and the put in the right stuff, but I also wanted him to fill the gas cans first because I needed exactly 4 gallons in one (to mix with the oil for the two stroke gas) and he did that last and I was worried he wouldn't be able to get that right. It worked out in the end, but I just want the other guy back. Sigh. Next time I'll have to remember to have the window down, tell him what I want, then put the bed up so he can fill it.

Tomorrow I'm letting my Cuz's husband use the garage to change her brake pads. I'm not thrilled with the idea, but I really want her to get them done before she does major damage to her breaks, if she hasn't already. I know she doesn't have the money to throw at a mechanic, but I'm not sure if her husband really knows what he's doing. I just don't want to end up with her car stuck in my garage and the dump truck left out in the cold for the weekend. I did say he could use the tools (hell, why not, they are there) and the jack and all, but I do want to be there to make sure it all goes back in place where it belongs. I'm only now beginning to figure out where stuff is, I don't want anyone messing with a system I have not quite gotten down pat myself.

Of course my Cuz has been saying that I will be hovering over him like a mother hen (a horrible misquote and not what I intend to do). I hope he doesn't think I'm going to be some overbearing asshole. I am not the kind of woman who can't shut up. I watch and try to learn, and if I have a helpful suggestion, I'll give it. I also know that her husband is a 'man's man' kind of guy, and with them you often have to let them think that whatever the idea is, it's theirs, or they won't listen. So I'll proceed on that course. Suggest, for their consideration. Hopefully he gets it all done before the snow (yes, SNOW) flies.
