Death penalty

Last night in Georgia, a man who claimed to the last that he was innocent was put to death for shooting a cop. He was convicted on the word of others, no physical evidence as I have heard. In Texas, a man was put to death for dragging a black man to death with his truck.

I have no problem with killing a person who has clearly killed someone else. Not one iota of a problem with it. But I do have a huge problem with our judicial system, where poor people get convicted for lack of a good lawyer, were police lie, where judges surpress evidence that could be helpful to the defendant. There is nothing 'just' about our justice. It may be better than say Iran, but it's a far cry from fair. As my socialist 'friend' said, how many millionairs have ever been given the death penalty?

After reading about the guy in Texas who was convicted of arson, and put to death for killing his child in the fire, and who obviously wasn't guilty, I have very little faith in our courts (and especially in Texas courts). And now we have Georgia to add to the list of courts that cant even commute a sentence to "Life in Prison" just to be on the safe side in a case that clearly is in need of review.

It's just absolutely wrong.

death, justice, murder, crime, injustice
