Three bags of wool

Mar 16, 2011 22:34

So I forgot to mention that I became the proud owner of three bags of wool this weekend, two of them partially or wholly cut into strips for making braided rugs. I acquired some wool a few years ago also cut into strips, but I gave them to my mother to A: spare them from rotting in my cellar, and B: because she was all gung ho to make a braided rug. Well, a few years later, that project along with her quilt are well on the back of her back burner, so there is no way I'm giving her this batch. What I want to do with them is to make hooked rugs. Not the kind you make as a kid from a kit with yarn string, but looped hooked rugs that look very cool and very old fashioned (rather than shag). And although I've seen them done on TV years ago, and they looked very easy to do, I can't seem to find the right wording to use to find them on line. I always get the shag kind, and that's not what I want. Any ideas LJ world?
Cause I need another project!
PS, one of the pieces of wool is an old navy blanket. I know this because it says US Navy on it. lol
