Biv sighting.

I actually have the TV on tonight. And now I'm depressed about CCD, Colony Collapse Disorder. Leave it to Nature to bring us the depressing truth. I get that way about my National Geographic these days. So little good news out there in that natural world.

So this morning NPR ( I like to site my excellent news source) had something on about the many states that are pushing for tougher abortion laws. Some of the latest tactics are the usual waiting periods, mandatory 'education' about the fetus and even ultrasounds to force you to hear the heartbeat or other such things to make you feel so guilty you won't want to have the abortion. And the Republicans berate Obamacare as invasive???? Here they are, literally legislating what a doctor has to do before he can do an abortion. As if the woman who came in to get the abortion was a moron who didn't quite understand what abortion was before she walked in. What I want to know is, what kind of information will they give that woman about how much it's going to cost her to raise that child if she chooses to keep it? And are they going to give her information about how she can get health care and day care for it, or nutritional supplements if she can't afford them? I bet the Republicans don't include that in the bill. So much for keeping the politicians out of the Dr./patient relationship.

I'm a bit puzzled as to why it's so hard to get a generator or generators to the nuclear power plants. From what I've heard, they need to get the power going so they can run the pumps and cool the tubes. I would think it would take a day or less for a military helicopter to bring an industrial generator to the site. I hope to god they are not being too proud to ask for help at the cost of their countrymen and the irradiation of an entire area of land. From tonight's news, there are reports of past screw ups at the nuke plant, which puts aside the idea that somehow the Japanese are beyond human error. Or human hubris.

Also we see in the news that we here in MA are blessed with the same kind nuke plant designed by GE. Now, we aren't as prone to earthquakes by a long shot, but we do get them, and there have been big ones here in the past, so it's not out of the question that one could hit. And given that the Plymouth power plant is by the ocean for cooling purposes, it would be vulnerable to water forces, although tsunami's here are unheard of. Either way, a plan c, d, and e need to be looked at for emergency cooling of the rods. Lets hope someone demands that that happens before the license is renewed. I however, wont hold my breath. As the Trillium finds is way into the water.....

And again, why are people so opposed to wind turbines??? If one of those falls over, you don't have to evacuate for 20 miles. Idiotic!

I'm close to done with my reports. Just need the hubs to make it pretty. Some day maybe he'll teach me how to do that. I've only been waiting for the last 10 years or so. :(

For all of you wishing you heard more on Biv... I have news. It's not much, just a bone.

Monday I got a message on my cell phone. Apparently she called when I was out or had the headphones on. She told me someone she knew died and that they might be going to my cemetery and she would see me if so. (Oh goody!) And that she missed me and to call her back. I didn't call back. I want no part of her pity party. It would be one minute of 'so and so died' and 20 minutes of "I'm there for you". Enough is enough. I'm just glad I missed the call when it came in. So today I was getting in the truck and I see a familiar car go by, which looks like my father's friend's car, but then I realize he got rid of that car. And as it goes by, I see 'her' just about hanging out the window waving. I wave back instinctively. Its' her in her boyfriend's car. So she's still using the boyfriend she hates who's dying of cancer (or not). Then later today, had to go out and I drove by her 'friend's' house, the guy she was supposed to work with in the winter shoveling but that fell through because of his jealous girlfriend. Well, there is her boyfriend's car out in front of the house. So she got he car from the bf and then went over there while he's a work. LOL! I have to wonder what she's doing over there. Oh, and this is also the guy who she changed her phone number over. Yeah, again, I SO don't miss that. As a matter of fact, I keep thinking it was this time last year she was called back to work, but missed 2 weeks because she was 'sick' and then had a boo boo toe. I also seem to recall it was a lot warmer this time last spring. But then we go the flooding rain. I hope we don't get that.

I got a call on putting one of our overwinter guests in the ground, but when I went to probe it, I was surprised to find that there was still frost deep in the ground. The first 8 inches was fine, but then it was like hitting a rock. I told the funeral home we'd wait a week or so. No sense trying to dig then needing the jackhammer after all.

We watched "Revolutionary Road" the other night. DE Press ING. Not the most depressing movie I've ever seen, but not really great. The one character I did really like was the crazy guy who was painfully honest. I also realized how old looking Kate Winslet is, although perhaps it's because they have her starring opposite her Titanic co-star, the ever young Leonardo. The movie felt like a play for some reason, and I wonder if that's not what it was based on or meant to be. I like Kate. She was good, but again, depressing. "Winter's Bone" should be here tomorrow. That should be very good.
