So Ryther and I caught the first episode of "Being Human" on the computer last night. It's a remake of a BBC show about two of my favorite subjects: A werewolf, a vampire and a ghost get an apartment together. Okay, that sounds a bit lame, but so far, aside from some sort of amateurish acting from what I guess are newby actors, the show is kind of fun. Both the werewolf and the vampire are 20somethings, although of course the vampire is really much older and more worldly. The ghost, who is stuck in the apartment the two boys rent, is a recently deceased young woman. She's actually pretty good in the role.
The usual angst is there for the vampire and the werewolf. Well, at least the current vampire angst. Used to be vampires enjoyed their lot in life (so to speak) but most now that are 'good' hate their blood sucking ways, and of course there is always the decadent blood lusting bad vampires trying to bring 'our hero' back into the fold. And the werewolf is suffering his monthly changes (PMSx1000) which doesn't help that hes a total dolt when it comes to dealing with people.
The two monsters cover each other's backs in some ways, and taking the apartment together is a way for them both to try to live 'normal' lives, which includes their job at a local hospital. Oh, and to top it off, the show takes place in Boston, although I'm sure it's not filmed anywhere near here. Probably another Vancouver show.
First episode ended in a cliff hanger... so I know I'll be back.
