Ummmm... guess who didn't show for work again? Yeah... that's right. She had to watch the sister's kids. Um hmmmm. Funny thing was, I dropped her off at a bar yesterday to meet a friend. And I had a sneaking feeling she wouldn't be in. Just call me a psychic.
Funny thing, as much as I bitch about her not being in, you know I love it when she's not in. I feel so free. No one's climbing down my throat with "what are we going to do next.. what are we going to do now?"
I cut saplings today. Its freaking amazing how fast suckers grow. I cleared a banking (banken?) this winter, and you'd never know it. three feet of tree growth on some of these oaks. Luckily I did not hit a bees nest today. That's always the fear.
I have some small oaks I have to take down. I let a bunch grow to shade a banken, but now it's too shady, and the trees are too crowded. Time to get rid of a few.
I sent a card to my son's 2nd grade teacher because she was retiring. Today we got a nice card back. She liked the drawing I did of her so much she's going to have it framed for her office. I had her riding into the sunset. It was cute. I kept a scan of it.
I read in the paper that the Governor has approved a deal to build a commuter line from Boston to Fall River. Now the question is, are they going to use the same company to put in the cement RR ties that did the other ones on the other rail lines, the ones they now have to pull out because they are falling apart?
So this was the warmest spring recorded at the Blue Hills observatory. 5-7' above average for March, April, and May. Thankfully we have not hit 96 here yet. Although Boston may have.
One of the consequences of this warming is the spread of the hemlock killing algasids (?) I noticed them on a boarder of hemlocks in our neighborhood a few years ago, and last year I noticed that they were really making inroads on the bushes, with sections of dead tree. And I figured for sure by this year, they would be done for. But oddly the bushes seem to have recovered, and I don't see any of the white fluffy buggers on them. I wonder if the owner treated the bushes, as you can get something to kill them. I'll be keeping an eye on them. If I see someone outside, I'll ask.
Didn't get to watch the movie last night, and Ryther is at a game tonight so it's early reading for me. I'll need it, it's going to be dark in the morning, rain maybe. Which means I'll get to tell Biv I don't need her... Oh well.
Another woman told me today that someone took her plants. Seems almost epidemic. Which reminds me I want to look for some video surveillance signs. And at that, I'll leave you.
