Red trees.

Eighty five degrees today. I hate yo yo weather. Only thing worse is constantly hot weather.

The other day while delivering the paper, I noticed that the yard of a customer was loaded with tiny Japanese red maple seedlings. They were all in her lawn under the main tree, and I thought since she was going to mow these over, I would try to save some. I was only able to get one out of the ground in the few moments I figured I had, without damaging the tap root. But that one I brought home (in the conveniently supplied dental floss canister on the side of the road. Its doing very well in it's new pot. I hope it will grow big and strong.. God, I've been seeing to much Zooville on FB.

I have a headache. I think I need to go to bed early. Long day tomorrow.

I also found a new pest on my trees. The linden tree that I am growing in a pot has a different kind of inch worm on it. It has a black head and the things group together, devouring the entire leaf. The canker worms pull two leaves together with silk and eat under protections of the leaves. These guys blend in with the leaf edge so you hardly notice them, until they are bothered and they all wag their asses at you. I thought they were the same things I've seen on pine trees, but I don't think they are. Related perhaps? Gross, definitely.

bugs, trees, weather
