The tree I've been trying to identify is a Smoke tree. My FIL was able to clue me in. Smoke, feather, same thing. lol At least now I know.
We had a nice lunch today, although not at the place we started out for. But just as well. We ate at the Fours, which had good food and lots of it, and not too bad on the prices, although the prices on all things seem to be crazy these days. It was an early Father's day. While there, we were examining the mural of Fenway Park on the wall. I'm trying to find the artist on line, but cant seem to. My MIL and I both thought it looked unfinished. It was a great mural, but there were things left undone.
On our walk this afternoon, I noticed that there are three foxglove plants growing in the yard of the abandoned house on the next street over. I wonder if I can give them a better home? Is that legal? Probably not. They look so healthy too, I'd probably kill them by moving them.
I was listening to NPR talk about evolution and gayness and stuff, and one of the questions was 'isn't being gay an evolutionary disadvantage'. So I was thinking, what benefits are there from being gay, not having kids an passing on your DNA. And of course my first thought is always wolves. In a wolf pack, the Alpha's breed and the other wolves generally take care of the pups. Which are their cousins or nieces or some relation of sorts. So here even though they have given up procreating, they do help ensure that their genetic material is passed on, by way of the cousins whom they help ensure survive.
I was then thinking about humans, and how often some of the most artistic, eccentric people are gay, or thought to be gay. Is there some benefit of not having kids that actually enables humans to think more? When you have a family to provide for, that's a huge chunk of your time and energy. But if you don't have kids and a family to worry about, you can devote oodles more time and energy creating. Sort of like why priests are not supposed to marry, so they can (supposedly) fully devote themselves to their faith and their 'flock'.
Well, that's all the pondering time I have tonight, as Ryther is going to start the movie now.
