It's Wednesday and I have half an hour before lost.

I just remembered that I forgot to wash my hands with Purell when I left my Dad's house. Damn, now I know I'm going to get sick.

It must be nostalgia week. I've been reading a book that I must have read when I was in Jr. High. It's called The Moon By Night,  by Madeleine L'Engle

As I'm reading this book, which I didn't think I'd read more than once nor since Jr. High, I realized so much of the book is ingrained in my memory. Lines that I read just pop in my head like I had just read that same line yesterday. Maybe I read it more than I thought. It's somewhat out of date in a way, having been written in the early 60's, just after the Korean War but before Vietnam. The main character Vicky worries about nuclear war, which was something I could still sympathize with even into the mid 80's. "How can I save my little boy from Oppenheimer's deadly toy". There is a lot of other stuff in the book that was very timely to me at that point in my life and shortly thereafter. I never liked a Wrinkle in Time but I love this book. I'm glad I picked it up again.

I don't know if I mentioned that I finished The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd. http://www.amazon.com/Mermaid-Chair-Sue-Monk-Kidd/dp/0670033944
I enjoyed that one too, although it was a  pinch slow to get into, once in, it was interesting.
I'm not sure what to read next. Dare I try to finish John Adams? lol

At dinner last night my husband forgot his age, and frankly I did too. I forgot he's already 41 and will be 42 this year. The time is flying by.

As I mentioned, I was in the attic looking for comics today. We have boxes and boxes of years worth of comics, and I'm trying to find our copies of The Watchmen. They seem quite hidden, but I have found some interesting stuff. I want to check on line to see what any of it's worth. I collected the comic The Crow, which was put out by an obscure publisher, but I happened to like it. Then Brandon Lee gets killed doing the movie, and all of a sudden it's an icon of sorts. Also found our Tick comics, which Himself should read. And there were a bunch of older Mad Magazines that he can go through. One with Star Wars and Mr T. on the cover.  I also collected a comic called Crying Freeman, which is not intended for younger readers, but I liked the art and the story. I should dig those out and read them again.

nostalgia, reading, books, aging, war
