Thrift is bad. Go figure

So saving money, which people are now doing, paying off their credit cards and not spending, is bad for the economy. You know, I think it's the definition of bad and good that has gotten corrupted, not the things that we do. We've depended on deficit spending for so long, we cant figure how to manage without it.

I keep thinking about the China economy, and how it's going to go into turmoil if things don't pick up. What will that mean for the Chinese government? Will there be civil war? Will Communism make a comeback? And about all those males with no jobs, refer to my previous post about men and war.

Got Gas? Second time Russia has put a strangle hold on Europe with it's power supplies. And I heard that Germany is shutting down its nuclear power plants in favor of gas. What's up with that? Wouldn't you think with the whole global warming thing and the fear of being dependant on another country that they would want to keep their nuclear plants?

My cat is deaf. But she understands sign. She was sitting on the heater warming her paws this afternoon. I had put out her food, but she cant hear the crunchies hitting the bowl. I came out and said her name a bunch of times, and made all kinds of motions with my hands. She just stared at me. Then I thought for a second and I looked at her and stuck my tongue out, and licked. She immediately 'got it' and perked up and then went out to her bowl. It was like I had just spoken the word 'food' to her in a language she could understand, which I guess I did.

Our washer arrived today. I'm trying it out now.

The weather today was like a bad early spring day. Snow overnight to sleet in the morning, then rain all day. What a mess. It's very foggy out tonight. I saw some plows out today, but I also saw sanding trucks putting sand down on side streets that were just slop. The sand wasn't doing anything, they should have saved it and just plowed. Then the drains were clogged with snow so there were huge puddles, which again, the plows could have done something about. Is it really that difficult? Now tonight they probably will need the sand if this all freezes. But what do I know?

My brother found two photo albums for me with pictures of us as kids. I have to scan them. It's nice to have them since most of the pictures my mother had were lost in one of the moves. There are some nice pictures of my father. Must have been taken the year he was sober, which is also the year he built the porch on the back of the house. He was a talented carpenter, even though he never did get into that trade. No jobs for carpenters when he got out of school. Kind of like now I guess. He went into the army instead. Kind of like now. That was at the tail end of Korea.

Well, that's about all I have to whine about today. I don't know if I am going to be able to do my art classes this term. I'm thinking not. Just too much going on.
