LIVERMORE - Rival gang members shot a 16-year-old boy Monday night after crashing a party put on by the victim's gang, police said.
The shooting was at least the third major gang disturbance in the city since late September. The victim, who lives in Livermore, was shot once in the shoulder and taken to ValleyCare hospital by a friend.

The shooting was reported to police at 8:58 p.m. by hospital staff. The shooting occurred at about 8:40 p.m.

Although the victim was not cooperative, police received a report of gunshots that were heard at the same time and connected the two events.

"We were able to piece together that it got started at a party on Chestnut," Lt. Scott Trudeau said.

Trudeau said the victim also was shot at in a Nov. 10 incident that involved gang members.

"The victim in this case is the same victim as three weeks ago," Trudeau said.

On Monday night, one gang was having the party on the 2300 block of Chestnut Street, Trudeau and police said, and members of another gang showed up. The victim and another man fled the scene in a van. They were followed by a 1990s model sedan, possibly a Mercedez Benz.

"They chased each otherdown the street," he said, adding that no shots were fired.

The two vehicles traveled at high speeds through residential streets. Near the intersection of First Street and Portola Avenue an unidentified man in the sedan fired four shots into the van. One round struck the victim in the shoulder. The driver of the van was not injured.

Officers tried unsuccessfully to interview the victim and the man who drove him to the hospital.

"None of them were cooperating whatsoever," Trudeau said. "He would not talk to officers at all."

The victim was transferred from Valley Care to Eden Hospital in Castro Valley, where he was treated and released two hours later.

Alright, first of all in case you don't really know me that well I was born in Eden Hospital in Castro Valley. Second, I spent 16 years living in Livermore, CA. And finally to draw it all together I went to high school on Maple street. Which if my memory serves me correctly...is the next street over from Chestnut...How I miss you California...
