Quick Champ entry - I promise the next one will be about something different!
Saturday's ride - full of win. Understands side pass fully. For the first time I asked him to side pass in the centre of the ring and not facing a fall to prevent forward movement. He understood and did very well. Still needs smoothing out and more consistency/rhythm, but he didn't once try to step forward and there was much less sidewinding so he's definitely on the right track.
On the bright side, he's also not anticipating what I'm going to ask him as much. Yay!
Also finally worked on leg yield to canter (like I've been wanting to do all week). A couple hitches in picking it up the canter immediately, and some objection to my reminder with a dressage whip, but he picked up his leads correctly. Wooo! Fucking nailed 'em to the left though. Textbook. Soft leg yield to immediate transition.
Things to still work on:
- Softer leg yield to the left
- Balance of canter right (can do smaller circles, but still too stiff)
- Softer transitions (inverts on downward as he did with trot-walk)
