congratulations martin brodeur!
Thursday April 5th, 2007 brian and i were fortunate to be present at the devils/flyers game...we bought the tickets months and months in advance because it was a night the devils were going to be in town and it would be the last game of the regular season against the flyers (plus, we could both make it)...little did we know that we were about to witness history
on that night, not only did the devils win and clinch the atlantic division...but martin brodeur earned his 48th win of the season...breaking the record of 47 wins by former philadelphia flyer bernie parent (a record that hasnt been broken in 33 years!)...and we got to see it happen...*sniff*
in the normal fashion, we got stares & glares from the dedicated fans of the flyers (perfectly acceptable, considering we were in their house)...we got heckled, as usual...and general aggression towards our team would get taken out on us as well...but there were a good amount of devils fans in the area---including a good 8 or 10 of them sitting in the row right infront of us...my favorite would be the one guy a section over who would always start a devils chant and immediately look to us to see if we would respond...it was cute...
one of my favorite moments of the evening:
flyers fan (to one specific devils fan): hey you!!
(devils fan turns around)
flyers fan: DEVILS SUCK!
so, in a nutshell, super excited to get the win that night--not so much for the division but mainly for marty...we had fun (and brian drove--so whats not to love?) im not gonna lie, i think the steps of the wachovia get smaller & steeper the more crab fries you eat & the more beer you drink...but largly due to the beer you drink...lol
yes, as usual, i took pictures like a big nerd...but i also grabbed a video right after the horn sounded...the video is already posted on my page...but it, along with the other pictures i took, are on my webshots page...enjoy!
now i just need to mentally prepare for playoffs...i dont know if my nerves can handle it...lol
