It's so amazing that not being busy doesn't mean you'll actually DO something...

You know, like post on any sort of regular basis on here. It's summer, I've had a week of doing very little (which is a vast change from my life of late), and I'm just now getting on here. To be fair, I did have one hell of a last few months. I was EVERYWHERE, it felt. I've had two weddings so far (and have three or four more to go by the end of October--why are you all getting married, friends? Calm down! We have time!), was a camp counselor-type-thing for high school actors for a week (yeah, that was...interesting. I know that I really want to teach when I still want to teach after that), and of course I'm gearing up to head out for grad school. I'm so friggin' excited about going back to school, which is geek-powered to 10, I know, but I don't care. You can have your "real" world, I like academia just fine, thank you. I'm getting a bit nervous, though, as I don't particularly like transistions because they're so, well, uncontrollable (don't worry, my Control Freak nametag is already firmly in place) and I haven't heard much from the school about how the entry period is going to work. Do I just show up and start attending classes? Do I have some kind of initiation, even though I'm not an undergrad? Does my job start before classes? Do you still want me in the department?

Ahem. So, a part of me is worrying, but then, a part of me is always worrying. In other news, I'm very excited because I'M ALMOST FINISHED WITH THIS FREAKING HUGE CROSS-STITCH PROJECT I've been working on for a...while. Will hang out at the local knitting store tomorrow to finish it. Then, of course, I get to start another, because I'm a masochist like that.

Um...as expected, first company did not pick up the MS that I sent out of my kids' book. Not too bummed about it, as it would have kind of freaked me out if I got it on the first try. Will send MS to other company soon.

Am very excited about upcoming concert of Irish/bluegrass band here in town. I loves me some Irish music, and miss Ireland/U.K. terribly. Also, there is a lack of ren faires in my life right now because my schedule is so weird and I am so broke, so maybe this will help a bit. I'm hoping to hit up a couple of faires before the season ends, because I misses my people.

That's...about it. For right now, anyway, because technically I'm at work. Well, I am at work, no technically about it, but it's been as SUPER SLOW DAY because summer is just slow here anyway and my boss isn't in. Love the freedom that creates, though--hence LJ update.

Right. Quiz. In honor of all my wedding-frenzied friends. Shutting up now.
