Oh my God! Is this something that has to be done by tomorrow? I think I read the email can just be copied or forwarded and sent to our senator? I'm on it!
I hate to say this, Amanda, but you were missled and missinformed.
The UN CRPD does absolutely nothing to the US, if doesn't affect you at all.. This is what it actually would've done: "This treaty, already ratified by 125 countries, would hold foreign nations to the same high standard of treatment the U.S. already maintains for people with disabilities," Reid said. "And it would safeguard American citizens traveling, working and serving abroad."
And for the record, the first president to negotiate and sign this treaty was George W. Bush.
All the information is out there, you just have to look for it and not blindly believe what you're told by a group of people who love to manipulate others.
Dayna, if the treaty did nothing then it would be pointless to have it ratified. Without amendments to our constitution it would take away my rights and give it to the UN as far as my twins and homeschooling. They are pushing it again the first week of January. You should look into what it has done to other countries. Homeschooling is a big deal to me. The public schools where I live are not to my standards... not at all... I have no idea if I could handle keeping the twins home or not, but I do want the option if I decide I want to or if public school/whatever else we choose (don't even know what's out there yet) doesn't work out

These are 10 reasons why I am against this specific treatyceliascreamsDecember 9 2012, 16:01:34 UTC
1. Any remaining state sovereignty on the issue of disability law will be entirely eliminated by the ratification of this treaty. The rule of international law is that the nation-state that ratifies the treaty has the obligation to ensure compliance. This gives Congress total authority to legislate on all matters regarding disability law-a power that is substantially limited today. Article 4(5) makes this explicit

Is this your own interpretation of the articles? Because I've just read everything you pointed out and I do not see what you're seeing. It doesn't say the UN will basically rule the US or decide what the US should or shouldn't do

I've read the convention here: http://www.un.org/disabilities/convention/conventionfull.shtml and nowhere does it say that it would take away your rights or the rights of any parent with a child with disabilities.
And for the record, the first president to negotiate and sign this treaty was George W. Bush.
