Well, I suppose there's not much for me to say but 'You were expecting...' But yes, that's kind of sad, but the fact of the matter is, if you have a character who's bi with a straight option, TV is usually going to go for the straight option. And Torchwood seems to have taken the road of Bury Your Gays, which, while a little disgusting depending on how you look at it, is not exactly unprecedented.

No, I didn't expect anything different, because the overwhelming Jack/Gwen (completely unbelievable, btw) chemistry, the "everyone is bi but ends up dead or in a straight relationship" theme and just Gwen as a character, are all major reasons why I stopped watching this show.

Because it's Jack Fucking Harkness. This show had the perfect character to break through the old tropes and expectations and actually give us a long-lasting, committed same-sex relationship... and the whole time they've been steering towards the SAFE option, and now have make it inevitable by getting rid of one of the gay pair. Bury Your Gays indeed. It's a really depressing trope when EVERYONE on your show is bi with the potential for a gay relationship.

This is why this particular instance so annoys me. Because it's so very blatant a case of "We like to flirt/have raging hardcore sex with gayness, but gayness is still bad and everyone knows only straight people have real relationships" syndrome.
