But I have TWO desktops. One of which is hella ancient, and that's the one I want to get rid of. Old Desktop really needs to be retired, it really does. New Desktop really needs to be used more often.

Thanks for the website, will read when I get home. :D

I WISH YOU COULD COME HERE FOR MY BIRTHDAY. D: But I've been considering throwing an LJ party one day that week that the dinner party isn't on. :D

YESSSSS. GET A MAC.

They're glorious, and I'm not sure about official studies or what not, but I for one have never gotten a virus on my Mac. A fair warning, though - the hard drives have been known to just cut out without warning. Both my sister and I and a couple of friends lost everything this way, so be sure to invest in an external hard drive, or lots of USB drives. :)

And I wish I could be there!! :(
I'll be there in spirit. XD

Wow your laptop is from 2004 and still works?! I mean...Yeah I'm pretty had on my computers. Wanna know what I did with my income tax? Half of it went to a new laptop and I regret nothing of that. It was a PC. I am not going to get into a debate of Mac vs. PC because I have never had a Mac. I'm not going to lie, if I had the money I just might buy one to see if it's any good.

I will say that I don't doubt there are people that would be willing to buy your old laptop. I have a friend whose dad is a computer programmer and he likes to tinker with machines. He recently bought an old pay phone to mess around with. So, yeah there are those people out there lol.

I would love to come to your birthday dinner, except for the whole travel issue. Maybe one day though. At least you have an idea what you want for your birthday XD

Now I'm looking into external hard drives...

(Several minutes later)

Now I've actually purchased an external hard drive, one that's compatible with PCs and Macs, in case I change my mind. It's 1TB. :D :D :D HOSHITYEAH.

But yeah, I take pretty good care of my electronics, I like to think, and I don't get rid of them until they absolutely DO NOT WORK anymore, or I have something that works better and the old one becomes just too difficult to deal with. Old Desktop is starting to get that way, and Old Laptop's screen is so unreliable it's not funny.

I try not to give in to perceived obsolescence.

OH MY GOD! I want 1TB! SO MUCH STUFF!

I often go by "is this going to cost me more to fix then what the computer is worth?" often time the answer is yes. I will say, I never have software issues. It's always hardware. I need like one of those laptops the army takes out in the battlefield. That might last for me...
