[Writing] Random YA poll
I don't write YA, but I might one day.
Random YA text poll! Leave your answers in the comments, since there are far too many possibilities for me to list them in a ticky box poll (and this post originates on Dreamwidth anyway, and I don't think they've quite made it to post polls yet).
Warning: The phrasing of this poll is heavily biased toward my personal opinion. My journal. I can do that.
If the whole of YA publishing and readership were to suddenly reject Twilight and all its spawn as the mysoginistic, poorly-written crap it is and decide it needed some real kick-ass female heroes and guys who aren't douchebags... what would you like to see?
This includes, but is not limited to, wanting to see girls who don't fall all over a guy, girls with problems that don't revolve around their boyfriend or their looks, or even their popularity, heroes of color, heroes who are gender-queer, heroes who perhaps don't fall on the totally straight side of the sexuality spectrum. Anything you think there is not enough of, or not anything of (did that phrase even make sense?), whatever. What is it you want to see in YA literature?
