Having finished Kushiel's Mercy a great deal sooner than I thought I would (and for those two of you interested, I will post about it soon enough), and found myself wanting to continue to immerse myself in that world, I'm rereading Kushiel's Dart again ( Read more... )

stupid-fucking-me has misplaced her copy of Dart, otherwise i might do the same. i was pretty pleased at the not-so-subtle insinuation that the next trilogy will be greatly influenced by alais' progeny. i really hope we get a little info about her love affair with conor. which better happen. i want to know your thoughts on Imriel/Sidonie after this last installment. and in case you didn't notice my text message, mavros + lucius = shipped-by-me-HARD!

It's not that I haven't noticed a text from you, it's that I haven't seen a text from you involving Mavros/Lucius shipping. The last text I got from you was about seeing a certain person while you were on campus.

I heart Joscelin, though. Despite myself.

weird. hope i didn't send that text to someone else by accident. but yes, that is my new ship. other than alais/conor, which really isn't new, but i love it.

and i heart him too. always have. except that time that you know about where i was SO VERY PISSED ALL THE TIME at him, but he eventually made it better...

I finally got it yesterday. ^__^

Yes, well, one cannot read Kushiel's Chosen without being SO VERY PISSED AT JOSCELIN ALL THE TIME. He's an ass in that book. I mean, Phedre's a bitch to him sometimes, but usually only in response to him being an ass. And while in any other circumstance his hurt and anger would be understandable, I just can't help but scream "YOU MORON. You KNEW what she was and that she had no control over it. You KNOW you can't fulfill all her desires. You KNOW that's what she was trained to do. You STILL decided to make Cassiel's Choice, condemn yourself to a Cassiline's version of hell for this woman, KNOWING ALL OF THAT, and you're going to bitch and moan about it now? And threaten to forsake your vow and make your Choice a mockery? MORON."

Yeah, but then he learns his lesson when he thinks she's dead, doesn't he? And by Kushiel's Avatar he's had ten years to grow (and so has she), so he's awesome. And he breaks my heart so much in that book because his anguish just screams off the page ( ... )
