[Fandom] Yellow & Selfish Love

Just read Yellow volume 1, one of the manga I got for my birthday. It's your typical shounen-ai story.

Goh and Taki are work partners (and their job as drug snatchers makes little sense and isn't really important anyway) who live together and generally get along. The biggest problem is that Goh is gay and Taki (supposedly) is not. Except that he really is because everyone knows that he and Goh will end up together.

Sigh. On one hand, the story is completely stereotypical and not entirely coherent. Taki already loves Goh but doesn't want to be with him? He loves Goh but doesn't? I dunno, it's not clear. It's also almost like a rehashing of FAKE, except the characters aren't cops.

On the other, damn it, I want to know how they get together! Not if, 'cause they're definitely going to. But how, and when, and how long Taki can fight his feelings and how many times he can threaten Goh with his gun. It's totally horrible and fangirlish. It has nothing to do with how good the story is and everything to do with me being a rabid yaoi fangirl. And hoping there will be sex scenes.

I know. I'm hopeless.

Edit: And now I've just finished reading Selfish Love volume one, and it was almost the exact same story, only set at University with students. You've got your pushy totally gay seme and you're bitchy I'm-not-gay! uke who totally is gay he just doesn't know it until he falls for the seme. Ugh, it's insane and it doesn't even have the fun element of the uke pulling a gun on the seme to make it even slightly interesting.

Worse, there's a small collection of shorter stories not related to the main manga in the back. They're all the same, except that the pushy seme is even pushier and pretty much rapes the uke. But when it's over, gasp! The uke realizes he liked it after all! Whhhhhyyyyyyy???

T^T This makes me very sad. At least Taki threatens to blow Goh's brains out in Yellow. Selfish Love is incredibly bad, not just the stereotypical story and horrible near-rape plottings, but the art isn't that good, either. I could read more of Yellow, but I won't be reading more of Selfish Love. Ugh.
