I survived the trip to the zoo yesterday. Critter has been cranky all week with a runny nose, and this made him volatile at the zoo. It didn't help that it got to about 103-degrees and we were in the sun. He didn't really notice the animals and just wanted to walk/jog in laps, and when he threw tantrums he screamed and attempted to throw himself into the ground/barricades/crowds of people. Thankfully, I stayed with two of his teachers; these ladies love my kid, and thought nothing of helping me to hold his hand and distract him from self-destruction.
Critter is normally a very mellow little guy, but putting him in a new environment when he's already off-kilter... ugh. I was very glad to be on the bus home. Honestly, it could have been a lot worse, but it still makes me sad when I see all the other kids enjoying themselves and he's Mr. Oblivious.
So yeah, didn't feel up to writing when I arrived home. Critter has been behaving much better today and we even went out shopping. All of my Writo de Mayo progress the past two days has been on the EMT textbook. I have most of the reading done for today.
