Novels are relationships

Another round of revisions done. This time I added 4,000 more words where I took my character to hell and back. Celeste is a strong lady, and by the time I was done, she was a sobbing, bloodied mess curled up fetal position in a shower.

Go me!

This means I'm trying to switch my brain around so I can get back into Minstrels of Fate mode, which is a challenge. Normal has been my love and obsession for two years now. Even though it was driving me bonkers and I wanted it DONE at the end of 2010, I find myself missing that world. I just plain don't love Minstrels as much. Not yet. It's also still rough in a lot of ways, and the prospect of all that work up ahead makes me feel like grumbling and procrastinating. Anyone else at that stage with their work-in-progress?

On a related note, I loved this link today about why writing a novel is like monogamy. It really makes me think about Normal and why I'm missing the familiarity of that world. In Minstrels I'm still discovering stuff as my crit partners asked hard questions and open my mind. We're still shy strangers in many ways.

minstrels of fate, normal, agent!
