first summer update.

May 30, 2005 00:35

I'm "back." I'm in Minneapolis (at my dad's) for the night and... I don't know for sure how much longer. Still waiting for the phone call on that one.

Anyway, there are so many things to talk about, that I suppose I'll get to the LJ cuts now.

Last day at GAC )

That's really a word? I was totally guessing.

Ehh... "yes." "Something like that" is... right. (And nowhere did I say that it was "hard-hitting"- in fact, they took it from the p.o.v. of two older Venezuelan women who were stretching.)

I have heard of the "Craft Corner Deathmatch", and it doesn't bode well when the high point of your show is the title and it all goes down from there. As far as I can tell, the only ironic thing about the show it the title. The rest is, well...

And about unbiased news sources: I found a good place to go is PBS and BBC News. Especially if you are fortunate to have digital cable and get about 50 different PBS channels with different stuff on them. Seriously, I am in heaven.

Actually, I found the chants of "Paper lantern" quite amusing, but that just might be me. I figured that the whole experiment was.... well, frankly embarrassing.

"Unbiased." Hmm. The problem is that everything is biased, really, and they can't help it. So yeah. I just take it all with a grain of salt.

Sorry to hear about the computer, but glad that it's fine. Craft Corner Deathmatch sounds absolutely terrifying. And a relatively non-biased USA Today article on Chavez/Castro? Very cool.

I'd say more, but I've got to go.

SLP won State synchro again. It's not that I'm not happy for them, because I really am. I understand how much time and work it takes. They deserve the credit, I know. But I can't help but think about how the whole high school system has changed, and how this whole generation has it so much easier because there's actually other schools that are doing well and making it so that there isn't the monopoly/duopoly that there used to be. I think back to how hard we had to work, and how everything that we did isn't even recognized or known about by most of the girls there now. I don't know. It just makes me sad and jealous.

Um. Can you explain this paragraph? Why are you sad and jealous?

this is probably way more info than you need. celestedeloeste June 5 2005, 00:06:32 UTC
I'm sad because I'm not involved anymore, and that also kind of brings out the jealousy. I think what's the worst for me is knowing that they're being successful as a whole team (whereas in my days we had individual successes, but we only won the overall championship once ( ... )
