Katya wants a handmade costume made for Halloween. She wants to be Cardcaptor Sakura from the Japanese graphic novel. We've been going to a costume shop here in town to talk with a seamstress there about making her costume in time for Halloween.
Meanwhile, at the same costume shop... I've had my eye on a lovely Renaissance costume. It's deep blue velvet, with bold trim and lined, billowy sleeves. It has an empire waistline and a panel inset of gold satin. The sleeves cut-away like butterfly wings to reveal the slim blue sleeve set inside. The dress has a square neckline edged in gold organza ribbon. The same organza trims the wrist. And it's gorgeous.
But, it was too expensive... so I hid it in the back of the costume shop hoping to save enough money before someone could find it and buy it before Halloween.
Today was Katya's open house at school. We were gone most of the evening, and when we got home, we immediately hit the studies to bring up her borderline 'A' math grade. I didn't even go into my bedroom.
If I had, I would have seen it. My sneaky-yet-extremely-wonderful roommate bought that costume for me and had it hanging up on display just like the mice did for Cinderella!!
And he'd already gone to work, so I didn't get to thank him (yet. But profuse thankings are in order. Oh yes). And, he didn't get to see me try it on to note that it fits perfectly and floats around my ankles when I dance around the living room in it. Oh! And it comes with a pretty little hat.
I'm feeling like the belle of the ball right now, and it's only Tuesday. I wish Halloween were here already, and that it lasted a week.
*sigh* I guess I'd better go change before Scouty cat gets ideas about gnawing my sparkling gold ribbon.
Til October 31.
