Five has been preparing the TARDIS (and really, himself) for the trip to Gallifrey. He's not sure when Reid will pop up with Martha again, but he figures he might want to go ahead and get things set and locked.
He wouldn't want to delay their trip any, especially with how excited they were sure to be.
So he can be found in the console room, mumbling quietly to an eager TARDIS. She just likes to travel, so everything is well.
