i keep forgetting to update this, and i've no idea why i'm remembering now, but anyway...it turns out that, technically, my computer can handle the games i own....i have a fast enough processor, and a good enough graphics card, and MORE than enough memory. i even helped jeff figure this out, so i'm not completely made of fail! just partially...cuz

As for a new computer, if you still have an XP disk lying around you could always get a Mac and dual boot, or VM XP. The VM wouldn't be very game friendly, but you could have a work / play machine all in one with dual booting. Though, honestly while they're fast, stable and well built I don't know what sort of issues you might run into with games made for PCs ... or even if you would run into problems with it.
Make the switch ... you know you want to.

Though, I'd have a Mac at this point, if they didn't charge a down payment of an arm and a leg for them. And their software.
Fry's is not amazingly cheap. You're probably better off going to Buy.com, and getting one of the deals on Acers. Alternatively, I can help you build one from parts - Central Computer can sell you an OEM version of XP, if you buy the motherboard, CPU, and case from them.
They also have knowledgeable salesmen, which helps for getting the parts you need.
