Move it move it!

Argh stupid internet. For some reason Virgin Media have cut back the speed of our connection for a week so until Monday every day after 4pm we'll have practically dial up speed. Seriously, this is the 21st century! Richard Branson, go choke on your ego.

Yesterday was a lovely day. We all went to Edinburgh Zoo. No pictures sadly because sis hasn't put them on the laptop yet but I'll do a pic post soon once we do. We were woken up at 7am (!) which amused my sister to no end. We're not morning people, it's a family thing. But once we were in the car, it was a bit better. I love the zoo, I wish animals liked me as much as I like them. I can't even get a loving response from my dog. Anyway, the highlights of the zoo were:

* Sealions. How can you not love them?
* Flamingos, which my family call the slappers of the bird world thanks to my dad's Florida comments.
* Monkeys. I can't remember all the names of the different varieties but I loved them all. There's something totally fascinating about them. They were swinging around everywhere and trying to get through the glass which was hilarious. One particular monkey which I think was called a drill had a butt with about 5 different colours on it! Which is surely a negative defence mechanism in the jungle because everyone can see it. Hurray for monkeys!
* Chimpanzees. Equally cool and very laid back. They didn't care that we were gawking at them like typical tourists. Things were cool.
* Koalas. Apart from the Glaswegian people behind us who kept trying to do to Aussie accents it was a lovely little bit. Of course they were asleep but that didn't make them any less cute. The funiest bit was a little sign outside their area discussing eucalyptus leaves. They're poisonous but also the main part of a koala's diet so the sign had a bit that said "Why don't they die?" Very blunt.
* Lions. We didn't see them at first because it was raining and like all cats they hate the cold.
* Penguins! Edinburgh Zoo do a daily penguin march where they let them go for a little walk around their area. We were warned not to sit down as they passed or they'd flipper you in the face. I'd would have paid good money to have a penguin slap someone in the face.

fun, family
