Plane tickets booked!!
So mac finally got his yearly bonus (looks like it will be the last one for a few years - dang economy!) so I started looking at plane tickets to Australia for Worldcon and family visitation. Decided that it made more since to fly out the weekend before the con so that we weren't doing the con jetlegged. And of course want to spend some time with family so need to spend another weekend in Melbourne to make it a little easier for them. (Of course a baby is due while we are down there so who knows what their schedule will be.) After Melbourne we are hitting Cairns for a few days because this girl is seeing the great barrier reef!
Then I start thinking. Do we want to spend both the time before the con and and the week after in Melbourne? Hmmm.. maybe we could hit Sydney before the Con instead.. take in Pirates of Penzance at the Opera House? Laugh...what about New Zealand?
I start playing on travelocity. Portland - Melbourne - Cairns - Portland = $X. Okay.. about what I was expecting to pay.
Portland - Auckland - Melbourne - Cairns - Portland = $X +$40. Uh what!!!!! $40 extra bucks to spend 3 full (jetlagged) days in Auckland?
oh Husband!!! We're going to New Zealand!!!!!!!!
