The Almighty Dot Points of Observing Modern Culture during the last week.

- Ricky Gervais on losing his SAG award to Alec Baldwin: "*grins* Oh, good. I'm glad he won! *eyes camera cynically*" Teehee. Bless 'im. (Squee for Tina and Alec, however. Hurrah!)

- Rachel Griffiths at the Men's Singles Final of the tennis, looking absolutely gorgeous as usual. Stay here a while longer, kthx.

- Cate Blanchett being the most beautiful pregnant woman... well, ever. (Speaking of Cate, this is Prince Phillip's reaction when she told him she worked in film: "There's a cord sticking out of the back of the [DVD] machine. Might you tell me where it goes?" CLASSIC. Article is here.)

- Sarah Wayne Callies getting a pedicure and looking tanned and so-not-like-she-had-a-baby-six-months-ago. And admiring Went in her magazine. YOU KNOW SHE WAS DOING IT.

WHY MUST ALL THE ABOVE BE SUCH YUMMY-MUMMIES. IT'S NOT FAIR. (Though I'm talking about Tina in the first point... not Ricky Gervais. Because that's just wrong on all counts.)

And there's the fact that Kathryn Morris turned 39 this week and still looks like she's ten years younger. ajskdfkshdj.

On a positive note, the complete Black Books DVDs have a combined total of 35 minutes of bloopers. THIRTY FIVE MINUTES. And Grey's managed a scrawny three and a half. Bzuh.

In more personal news, I had my last shift at my job last night. I hadn't posted about it, but over the last few months I'd been really giving it a good think over and after coming back from Sweden, I decided to bite the bullet and resign. HQ/management had really messed around with us and treated one of my friends appallingly, hence all the girls were leaving anyway, so I thought I might as well do the same. I'm taking February off, except for my other work (which I consider my 'secondary' job) with no other job lined up, but I'm not letting myself worry about it at the moment. But it's surreal; it hasn't sunk in I won't go back there. This place was my very first job when I was fifteen and naive, and has literally been my second home for four years. It's screwed me over countlessly, but us girls were like family, and I hate that I'm not going to get that again.

But it's probably for the best. Probably very unambitious of me if I didn't move on, but what can I say - I like my comfort zones.

Finally, happy birthday, starcrossed! Treat yourself, and take care, girl. ♥
