Hey friends.
So, that weekend. It wasn’t as good as I’d hoped it’d be, but it was still a change in scenery if nothing else. I’m going to make a list of pros and cons.
Pros:
-ANIMALS. There were lots of them and I got to cuddle with my uncle’s dogs, Cannelle and Cimba, who fell asleep on me multiple times as I pet them. I smelt like dog and got covered in coarse jack russell hair but I loved every second of it.
I talked a bit with the cats. I don’t speak Cat, but I’m going to assume they didn’t insult me or tell me I’m an inept human.
I also saw quite a few birds and pretty horses, amongst which was a miniature one that was SO adorable.
-FOOD. Not vegan- or even vegetarian-friendly, but I had raclette, which is a rare occurrence. I also had (a vegetarian) pizza. It wasn’t a light weekend in terms of food. I regret nothing.
-STARS. Guys, the sky was so clear I saw the milky way like you can never see it in or around a city. It had been a long time and it was magnificent. You could even see the smallest, farthest ones that you can only see in your peripheral vision because if you try to look at them, they disappear. It was beautiful.
-SILENCE. Complete silence. No cars, no sirens. In too high a dose it becomes disturbing but I didn’t stay long enough for that, only long enough to notice and enjoy it.
-EVERYONE AGREEING THEY HOPE TRUMP GETS ASSASSINATED.
Cons:
-TRIVIAL PURSUIT. Now, I love Trivial Pursuit and I did ask if we could play. It’s just that my uncle chose the 20th century edition and I sucked so bad, it was terrible. I should add it was very hard to concentrate with Black Hawk Down playing at full volume on a huge TV in front of me. It is so not the movie I would’ve have chosen as background for a relaxing evening of board games. It was pretty traumatizing.
-MY UNCLE. What the eff happened to that man. He was always a bit of a misogynistic cock, but he’s become a parody of the macho redneck with a black and white opinion on everything, it’s insufferable. He plays airsoft now. I saw him prepare his gear, it’s… chilling. Like who the fuck owns SWAT/military gear to play war. So the guns are fake, BFD, they’re still made to look real and shoot people. Like killing is a sport. I don’t understand that. To think that this psycho had the guts to tell me antidepressants are “shit” and will do “more harm than good”. AND he said Trump had a point about building the wall at the Mexican border and we should do the same. I sure hope that nutjob doesn’t vote (pretty sure he doesn’t).
-MY GRANDMOTHER. My dad’s mother. She’s old as balls, too, and in just as bad a condition as my other grandmother, except she lives in the country so access to medical facilities is very hard. As most old people, she’s unreasonable and won’t do what’s best for her. It’s hard to watch, especially when her two sons are so done with her shit that they’re really hard on her. Not that she’s a walk in the park, let’s be clear, but still.
-MY OTHER GRANDMOTHER. I’d gone to the country to take a break. Caring for her is quite hard, physically AND emotionally. I don’t get the support I should from my other family members (who have more or less valid reasons for not sharing the burden right now), so I thought leaving a little less than 48 hours would be okay. It wasn’t. I blocked my grandma’s number but she kept on leaving messages (18 in one day) and MY FAMILY KEPT ON CALLING ME TO LET ME KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON AND ASK ME WHAT THEY SHOULD DO. They messed up, didn’t keep her company at all, didn’t sleep at hers, and what happened? She stayed up all night and went to ring doorbells left and right at 4AM before trying to run away wearing only her slippers and a light coat. She was very aggressive, they ended up calling the hospital to ask them to take her in again but they refused because she’s not physically sick. Anyway, I wasn’t there but it’s like I was, really.
