last run before the race!

My training plan actually had 3 runs in a row for the weekend - saturday, sunday, monday. And then not another run until the race. I was sluggish on my run on Sunday and decided moving Monday's run back a day wouldn't hurt. Tuesday morning, I made an attempt to adjust my hip, did some stretching and headed out for 4 miles around the regular loop. It really felt fantastic! My hamstring was a little sore starting up, but after the first few minutes it cleared up. It was about 62 degrees out, not super windy, not super humid, not raining. There were 2 or 3 vehicles turning into driveways that actually waited for me to pass. Was this for real? Ended up with an average heart rate of 165 BPM with a max of 185 BPM. A little high, but I just felt so good and was enjoying the pace I was going. Since I'm not running again until the race, it didn't seem like too much effort. I did a few side shuffles, hip swings, and some crunches when I got back.

Headed out to see Jeff Tuesday night for a pre-race massage. My left hip is definitely tight, but we made some headway on it and I think with regular stretching/foam rolling between now and the race, I'm excited.

Today was weigh-in day and I weighed in at 179.4 lbs! The only other weight under 180 that I've had this year was the week I had the flu. I'm very happy to have legitimately lost this weight and kept if off for the race...wonder if I can get rid of another 10 lbs before the marathon...

I'm really excited for this weekend. I'm excited to spend time with Alex, see my dad, and maybe actually run a 1/2 marathon uninjured. The weather for Sunday is currently forecasted to be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 70s. Chance of rain 40 percent. A week ago the high was mid 60s, and this morning the change of rain was 50%...if we can split the difference and keep the higher temps but lose the rain (and the accompanying humidity) I'd be okay with that.

Time for laundry and packing!!..wish me luck!
