Another dragging workout this morning. I didn't run outside because A: It was 5 degrees and B: There are a few spots along my route where the sidewalk doesn't get cleared and it's a mess to run in. I'll run in the street on Woodward on a Saturday. But not on a Wednesday morning in the dark.
I ended up walking to the next bus stop down the line and then catching the bus. It was a 6 minute walk, and I could have stood at the stop closest to my apartment for 6 minutes and achieved the same thing...I guess when I'm trying to cut it close getting to the gym before work I have a hard time with just standing around. Glad the bus came though, it was really cold.
I completed 40 minutes on the treadmill, and that's about all I can say about it. I woke up hungry, felt lethargic during the run again, and just couldn't quite get my legs under me. I know I was working hard b/c my heart rate kept creeping up into the 180s, so it's not like I wasn't trying. I think I ended up with a 3:1 run:walk ratio, which was maybe a little better than yesterday's.
One of the negatives about working out at the Y is that it is not just not cold in there, it's actually quite warm. Like, 72. ~22 degrees more than the 50 degree temps I find ideal for running. That's great for being willing to take off your coat, but 20 minutes in it means I'm dripping with sweat.
