Ph.D. updates and stuff
My comprehensive exams, originally scheduled for November 30, December 1 and 2 are now going to be February 1-3. Well, they're definitely pushed back. I haven't been able to confirm the new dates with the graduate adviser, but I haven't heard of any reason why they WOULDN'T be those dates. The grad adviser hasn't been very forthcoming.
I have unofficially been told that I'll have funding for the 2008-9 school year. That means that I SHOULD be able to get my dissertation finished, or nearly finished before I begin teaching full time. This is a bad thing for my student loan balance but a good thing overall.
I haven't really updated in quite a long time, and I know that for some people this blog is just about all the contact they have with me these days. Well, Joe and I have been struggling since I moved out to Missouri and each year things became more difficult to sustain. We broke up, got back together and things were good, then broke up again. He is now dating someone else and although I'm happy for him, I'm sad for me. He fought longer and harder for our relationship than I had any right to expect and I hope he walks away knowing he did everything he could to save us. I wish I had the same peace of heart. We've remained good friends and I will always consider him a part of my family.
